Walk to End Epilepsy 2019 - LA

Epilepsy is the most common serious brain disorder worldwide with no age, racial, social class, national or geographic boundaries (World Health Organization). Seizures steal moments and memories, can change lives, impact development, affect learning and can even result in death. THERE IS NO CURE.

As most of you know, I have had epilepsy for all of my 27 (ahem 44) years. In our family it is genetic, so even though I was born with seizures, I wasn't properly diagnosed until I was 4. And I use the term "properly diagnosed" very lightly. I've had tons and all kinds of seizures. When I was first diagnosed, my sweet little grandma told my mom "don't worry honey, we won't say anything."  That was 40 years ago and shockingly that is still a common situation today.

As I mentioned above, my type of epilepsy is genetic and unfortunately a few years back my nephew, WYATT, was also diagnosed. I have seen first hand how his diagnosis has affected my brother and sister-in-law and their family and I am here to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! It is our job to do our part to help end this monstrous disease.

Just because Wyatt & I  and our families and friends have embraced our epilepsy, does not mean everyone else will...

And that is why I am here begging you for your support to help us END EPILEPSY. That is why you are reading this now and that is why we will walk on February 2nd at the Rose Bowl. We are here because there are so many people who have not even heard of epilepsy and we are walking are to change that mentality and we are walking FOR A CURE!

No matter the severity of seizures, children & adults alike can and will contribute. It hasn't been an easy road for for either myself or Wyatt and we have both hit a few roadblocks along the way but we here and we are doing great. Epilepsy is not the end of the road, thats for sure. There is a hope and promise for tomorrow and that is why I walk and that is why I continue, year after year, do do all I can for this amazing organization.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE consider supporting as well. Your involvement provides care, advocacy and education today while investing in research and hope for tomorrow. TEAM WYATT & AUNTIE SHAN has raised over $200,000 since 2011 and we don't intend to stop now!

Your contribution makes a difference. Thank you!
